Karate Spencer

Morning Folks!
This week, the new challenge at Passion for Promarkers is

SPORTING OCCASIONS

I'm not a big sports fan but I do love watching tennis in the summer, I'm looking forward to the start of Wimbledon next week when not much crafting will be done!

This time we are generously sponsored by

who are offering a $6 voucher to our lucky winner! They also kindly supplied the DT with some fab digi images to play with. Here's my card using the very handsome Spencer in Karate , as soon as I saw this image I had an idea of the card I wanted to make - monochrome and CAS with this cute bear as the focal point:

He was great fun to colour

I watched a couple of videos to try to figure out how to tie the ribbon to resemble the karate belt. It's hard to see but it does look quite similar in real life. All the paper is from my scraps folder, the stripey one is a magazine freebie and the dotty one is from Papermania capsule collection, it actually had a die cut circle missing from the centre but fortunately there was enough border left for this card.

Don't forget to pop over to
to see what the rest of the design team have made!
Get creating with your Letraset / Winsor & Newton markers and join us!! Remember you can enter any type of creation, it doesn't have to be a card.

Hello Turtle

Afternoon Folks,
Not a very productive weekend for crafting here but I did finally finish this card which is my first ever entry for the Gerda Steiner Progressive challenge, using the super cute Hello Friend Turtle.

I coloured up this little chap last week with promarkers and then my mojo disappeared when deciding on the layout.

In the end, after much faffing around I decided to go for a CAS design which I am quite pleased with - finally! The stripey paper (Chatterbox) and orange paper (The Snowman collection) are both from my scraps folders but they seemed perfect together with the turtle shell. The sentiment is from a Humphrey's Corner set.

Thanks for visiting today,

Good Cluck!

Morning Folks!
We are already half way through June ( I know, really??) which means it's time for a new theme over at Sparkles Monthly Challenges. This month we would like to see

EMBOSSING
(wet or dry or both - we don't mind!)

I made this card for my son who has just done his AS exams. I was trying to find a fun, but masculine, exam good luck on Pinterest and came across several cards using a Stampin' Up set which I think is called Good Cluck. That sparked this idea using a Penny Black stamp called Cluck! Quack!

My embossed element is the chicken wire background made using an SU hexagons embossing folder inked up with chalk ink on kraft paper - another idea from Pinterest! Love how this turned out.

Here's the close up view, love those happy faces and can just imagine the racket they are making!

and the sentiment inside the card, a Tim Holtz stamped greeting, trimmed and with a brown sticker added

Pleased to say my son thought this was great which made me happy!

Skiing Snowman

Morning Folks!
Can you believe that it's June already, how did that happen?? Not long until Christmas!! Perhaps you'd like to join our new challenge starting over at SPARKLES CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE today and get another card added to your box before December??

Our theme this time is:

NON TRADITIONAL COLOURS

I based my card colour on these soft jade / turquoise coloured papers which are left overs from a combination of Christmas packs, including The Snowman and Forever Friends (I think!).  Somehow I always passed them by for the more traditional icy blues etc. as the jade colour didn't really say Christmas to me. However, now I have tried them,  I'm quite pleased with how this turned out - perhaps an old crafter can learn new colour combo's !!!

Here's a closer look at the brave downhill skier. He's coloured with promarkers with plenty of flocking added to his hat, liquid pearls for the falling snow and lots of stickles!

The stamp is Penny Black Skiing Snowman. The sentiment stamp is from a bargain purchase in The Works, I think they were called contemporary Christmas sentiments by Docrafts. The trees and icicles are both cut with Die'sire dies.
